Can you tell me how I can modify the Jomsocial menu? The one show in the attached file?

for menu items you can changing it from joomla backend > menu > jomsocial toolbar
for template override you can copy base.php from
/components/com_community/templates/jomsocial/layouts/toolbar/ to /templates/socialize/html/com_community/layouts/toolbar/
after that you can put any modification at that file.

I am having difficulty locating the file that has the menu item that says "Events Tab" (see attached image).

It does not appear to be in the /templates/socialize/html/com_community/layouts/toolbar/ folder and I believe it was an override because Events Tab is not part of joomla.

Any idea where that file might be?
