Is it possible to create a public group in Jomsocial (visible to the public) where only the group administrators can make new wall posts, images, videos, events and discussions?
I am aiming to create a 'news' group that is visible to everyone but can only be posted in by administrators. Ideally public users who've joined the group would still be able to comment on these posts and reply to discussions.
sorry, that not possible. you need to customize lot of jomsocial core files and you cant upgrade your jomsocial anymore, because all core changes will be disappeared.
If the new ACL won't cover group categories then I'm a little confused as to the purpose of the ACL in jomsocial? Isn't everything else already covered by mutliprofiles?
To be honest we don't know yet exactly how ACL will work and what settings it will cover. We're in 14% of JomSocial 4.2 and ACL will be implemented in 4.3. This will take a longer while.
Since then you may help us by posting your suggestions in User Voice and gather votes under it (in Community).
