ISSUE SUMMARY:

I created first-name and last-name fields as per the documentation wiki instructions.

All worked well, except if and when a user wants to edit their name. There appears to be no place for the user to edit these fields - on the frontend when he goes to "edit profile" they do not show up. Also, in the backend of Jomsocial "monitor" >> "members" area these fields do not show up, only the Joomla "name" field appears in the Account details tab.

Does this mean that with first and last name fields activated, users have no chance to edit the name that they registered with?

I have just been experimenting further the past hour or so and came upon the solution to my problem in the past few minutes ...

I have multiple profiles, and I DID NOT activate the fields "first name" and "last name" in the Jomsocial >> Profiles >> Multiple Profiles >> Profile A/B/C page (see screenshot)

It seems that if you are using first name and last name, then you must ensure that for each profile type that you add, the first name and last name fields are activated (by default they are not!). If they are not activated, the fields still appear on the registration page as one will expect, but the user and the administrators will never be able to edit the fields.

Perhaps this should be included in the documentation about First name and last name fields to prevent further confusion.
