ISSUE SUMMARY: When a user registers, is there a way to disable the 'username' field? - we will allocate an appropriate username after the registration.

The alternative is to use a different 'contact form', where users can register - completing all necessary and required fields - but this would mean double work to transfer that information to the actual profile table.

Any suggestions?

thanks!

Hi, Ferdinand.

Username is Joomla! obligatory field. You can't remove it.
Sure you may try to generate something in this field and hide it.
But note that JomSocial uses Username or login to display as community member name.
