ISSUE SUMMARY: A user can type in a status update, add photos, etc., but the post does not appear on his own activity list, also not on his friends activity list.

Hi Ferdinand,

You should enable the each item on user points configuration (Jomsocial backend->Configuration->User Points) because it respected to the stream as well, if you dont want the point to be assigned, you can set the points to zero 0.
