ISSUE SUMMARY:
I'm not able to send new message to users from the message page and not able to reply to received messages. Only messages that are going out is when sent from profile page.

STEPS TO REPLICATE:
1 Send a message to a user through the send message button on their profile page
2 The other user reads the message
3 Try to reply and nothing works, the button won't trigger any message

1 Go to the messages page
2 Select to send a new message
3 Select a friend
4) When trying to send, there is an error message saying that the message is empy


RESULT message not sent
EXPECTED RESULT: send a message
BROWSER: all

I'm using 4.0.9

There isn't any message shown to the user on error on Console.

What I noticed is:
1) New message to a friend from the message central will trigger the problem saying that the message is empty
2) New message to a friend from their profile page will send the message without any problem
3) reply to a message received won't be sent, without any message error

I use YooTheme Nano3, and it might be a compatibility issue.
I changed to the default joomla template and the problem disappeared.

So, please you contact nano3 developer... anyway I just test it on your current template and its working

sorry for not coming back earlier. I was able to fix the issue.
It was a problem with jQuery caused by YooTheme, probably social.js file

it could be the same solution for the other user with similar problem
