JomSocial Expired AdAgency Expired iSEO Expired Socialize Expired

ISSUE SUMMARY:

We need our users to be able to edit their username, as we have asked our users to user their email address for their username. (We had too many people forget their username before we did that). However that means users need to edit their username if they change email address.

But if we enable users to edit their username in the backend - users can't edit their username....

Help! We need this fixed urgently! Please send me a fix - we can't wait for 4.1!

Thanks a lot

Hi, Susan.

Yes, that's correct, they can't do that in JomSocial, but they may do that in Joomla! account.
You may create another menu item in JomSocial toolbar menu that points to Joomla! account so user can change their username.

I can't guarantee if this improvement (it's not a bug) will be available in JS 4.1.
Also, please, don't ask for urgent fixes because you can't wait for new release.
All user will have to wait, without any exceptions.
At this stage NO improvements will be added to JS 4.1 RC, under any condition - Sinisa's words...

Anyway I'll report this to our developers.

- Instead of saying: 'it's not working', explain the problem in detail.
- Screenshots with the URL visible in them and the problem marked are more than welcome.
- Tell us how to replicate the problem, we can't fix it if we can't find it.
- Make sure that your site/server meets JomSocial System Requirements
- Make sure to setup JomSocial Cron Job
- Always provide us with access details to the backend and ftp. We need it to debug problems.
- If you have a similar problem, but a solution you found isn't working, open a new thread instead of 'merging' with an existing one.

- Use the "Thank You" feature on any post that helped you

Hi, Susan.

I have confirmation that this feature will be available in 4.1 for sure.

We need to know: if we create a program to allow the user name to be changed, will it cause a problem for JomSocial?

I.E. We need to know why you are preventing the changing of username?

Does it have any implications in JomSocial if we allow users to change username?

Like I said, we asked our users to use their email address for username, so they need to be able to edit it!

Thanks!

You don't have to create anything... or if you don't want to wait just link to Joomla user account.
