JomSocial Active Socialize Expired

ISSUE SUMMARY:
I have upgraded to Jomsocial 4.9 and now have an issue with logging out. I am using the BT Login module (which has worked perfectly up to now). I can login fine, but neither the logout button of BTLogin nor the Jomsocial Logout icon works - both produce the same results.

STEPS TO REPLICATE:
1 Log in to the community
2 Try to log out with the Jomsocial Logout icon
3 It starts to download a file called download.gz
4 Then the login box appears but it has not logged out
5 Try the same process using the BTLogin button to logout
RESULT
Downloads a file called download.gz and then brings up a login button

EXPECTED RESULT
The user is logged out of the community

BROWSER
Tested in Chrome, IE and Firefox. All produce same results

Hi, Melanie.

Your site behaves odd. I could log in but I'm not considered by the system as registered user and I don't see Community menu item in Public Menu. When I try to get to Community by quick links I get URL www.wessexlifescience.co.uk/?Itemid=923 that redirects me to start page.

So I can't click logout button in Community.

Could you login to jomsocial account and check this?

- Instead of saying: 'it's not working', explain the problem in detail.
- Screenshots with the URL visible in them and the problem marked are more than welcome.
- Tell us how to replicate the problem, we can't fix it if we can't find it.
- Make sure that your site/server meets JomSocial System Requirements
- Make sure to setup JomSocial Cron Job
- Always provide us with access details to the backend and ftp. We need it to debug problems.
- If you have a similar problem, but a solution you found isn't working, open a new thread instead of 'merging' with an existing one.

Hi Michel,

I didn't realise I had to add you as a registered user as well as Super User. I have done that now. Can you try again and see if you can view the logout buttons?

One question, does the Jomsocial front page have to be the default page?

Hi, Melanie.

In most cases Super User is considered as "Registered" user. But on your system it's not... that a bit odd. I was able to log in and view Community page. When I click logout icon page is just reload and I stay on that page. It looks like I'm still logged in. But when I hit CTRL + F5 I'm asked to login... curious.

Could you try disable BT Login? Maybe there is a conflict in sessions?

Hi Michal,

I think it might be the ACL manager I installed (why Super user isn't automatically registered - I will check this shortly).

With regards to BT Login, I disabled it, cleared cache, cleared browser history, logged back in using web url and by adding community to end (temporary whilst the login module switched off).

I then tried logging out using Jomsocial logout on the toolbar, still exactly same problem. I have left BT Login disabled so you can see for yourself. I noticed when I hover over the Jomsocial logout, the url that appears at nottom of page shows something like www.mysite.com/component/users+tak:user.logout followed by loads on alphanumeric - is that normal?

Hi Albertus,

as a last resort I disabled the jomsocial redirect plugin yesterday as thought that might be the conflict. It was still same to me. On your advice I re-enabled it, and selected an alternative page for the redirect after logout and its works! So it strangely it looks like it just doesn't like re-directing the home page. I have created a copy of the home page and set it to that now, which is ok. Thanks for alerting me to the plugin.

However now I can't register - the Jomsocial registration has stopped kicking in after the initial user and email addresses are completed (on the first of the registration pages). Is this because I have changed the redirect?

Hi Albertus,

my apologies. It is unlocked again now (I switched off access over weekend as know you do not work then).

I have gone through all the menus, and I definitely cannot see a menu item that is using Jomsocial registration.

Hi,

you can set jomsocial frontpage at menu item as registered access level. you must set it to public.
goto joomla menu manager > public menu > select Community and set access levet to public.
