ISSUE SUMMARY:
When a new user is registered and update their profile picture, sometimes when they change the profile picture, the previous user (according to user ID)'s profile picture is changed to this user's picture as well. This happens when a user wanna upload a new profile picture (maybe fail sometimes).

Another possiblity is The first upload of profile avatar is successful. But when the user change the cover photo, the profile picture disappear and then he tried to upload the photo another time.

This create a trouble as some other users report other people misuse their picture but actually it is a bug in the system. Could you try to replicate this issue in your server and see whether this happens in your system as well? This really annoys my users very much.

Best,
Patrick

Hi, Patrick.

Describing replication steps will be very helpful in this case. You described your issue but are this steps correct?

1. Register user A (don't upload avatar yet)
2. Register user B (also don't upload avatar yet)
3. Login as user A and upload avatar

Result:

User B should have user A avatar

Are above steps correct? If no, please correct them in form of steps - just like me.

- Instead of saying: 'it's not working', explain the problem in detail.
- Screenshots with the URL visible in them and the problem marked are more than welcome.
- Tell us how to replicate the problem, we can't fix it if we can't find it.
- Make sure that your site/server meets JomSocial System Requirements
- Make sure to setup JomSocial Cron Job
- Always provide us with access details to the backend and ftp. We need it to debug problems.
- If you have a similar problem, but a solution you found isn't working, open a new thread instead of 'merging' with an existing one.

Dear Albertus,
I just reported it from the user, I can't replicate it myself as well.
Hi, Patrick.

Describing replication steps will be very helpful in this case. You described your issue but are this steps correct?

1. Register user A (don't upload avatar yet)
2. Register user B (also don't upload avatar yet)
3. Login as user B and upload avatar
4. Change the cover photo of user B.
5. Change the avatar of user B.

Result:

User A and B got the same avatar of user B.

Maybe you can try anything possible with avatar upload (avatar fail to upload, cover pic change and then avatar upload) to test whether you can replicate the same problem? Thanks.

Best,
Patrick

Hi, Patrick.

I tried fiddle avatar and cover in any possible way... but I'm sorry, I can't replicate this issue.
User A still has no (default) avatar and profile cover.

Can you try uploading a profile photo with a big size, and in the middle you click the 'back' or 'stop' button, so that the photo cannot be upload successfully.

or, can you try to upload one profile picture successfully. Then upload cover picture, then try to change it to another profile picture (big size) but in the middle of upload you click 'back' or 'stop' button so that the file cannot be uploaded properly.

Because user reported that it happens when their profile pic is not upload successfully. So maybe you try to create a scenario where the profile pic is not upload successfully. Thanks.

Hi, Patrick.

No, that way I also can't replicate that.

You may try yourself on my test site:
