It could be that what you include code to correct problems from previous versions of jomsocial? example: www.jomsocial.com/forum/modules-plugins-...s/24535-avatar-error I say this because on several occasions have had to modify the code to fix similar problems.

that code is coming from your Joomla template, please you contact your joomla template developer fox fixing this

which that template is not support with the latest jomsocial template, you can try to use beez3 template for testing it, and all fine..
