Hi,
While tagging the location during status update, jomsocial now only show some nearby locations. I want to customize this feature as to allow user to tag any location they want ,just like that of facebook. Could you please suggest me the way to do it and also please suggest which files do i need to modify inorder to customize.

This will be a rather extensive customization that we can't support... and also a core hack.

Core hacks are not recommended nor supported as they may not working with future JomSocial releases and/or cause issues that will be not supported. Users with core files hack refuse to upgrade their installation to keep those hacks and they are stuck with outdated and unsupported versions.

Thank you for the reply. I understand that changing the core feature is not a recommended option and i am aware of the consequences.
But i need to customize this feature as it is one of the essential requirements for our site. And it's ok if we can't upgrade to the newer versions later, but we need to do this for now. So, please suggest me what i need to do and which files i need to edit.

I'm sorry but I can't suggest you what file need to be customized. Explaining this will be like I did part of your customization - I need investigate this, test thing... to provide correct information. This will take a lot of time.

Imagine that you want to customize your car engine (you know some stuff) and you ask mechanic to give you some tips/directions for upgrade... this simply won't work in cases like this.

Also this could be done in many ways... so the best option is to hire a developer. You tell what you want and developer will have own ways to achieve it.
