ISSUE SUMMARY:
We had a user who did not get an email activation.
Since I cannot re-send an activation email (or can I??) I went to the admin control and selected Enabled, and then Activated for that user.
While that user can use the online, that user does not receive notification emails (like friend requests) and we checked in their profile, it is enabled.
Why?
Is there another place the admin needs to activate?
Can we just re-generate the activation email?
Thanks,
Ofer
Hi, Ofer.
If other users received activation emails - if they still does (you may test it doing a registration), if other users receive email notification...
Then I'll rather check if user provider PROPER email and if emails maybe goes to spam box.... or spam filter is very restrictive on user mail box.
Does this user have free email like Gmail, Yahoo or something like this or rather commercial account?
The issue is not that the user does not receive emails. It is that the system does not send the emails.
So if you (a new user) created an account and lost your email (let's say you accidently deleted it from your inbox).
You contact the site admin saying "I have no activation email".
I got to admin tool and activate you by enabling Enabled, and then Activated.
You are now active and start posting.
Then your friend Joe now send you a friend request.
We do not see the system sending you an email notification. We do see it sending for other users.
So there must be something lacking in a user activated by the control panel that prevents the system from sending him a friend request.
Does this makes the issue clear?

Hi, Ofer.
1. I registered on your site
2. I received activation email - but I DIDN'T activated my account:
prntscr.com/6xk0wp
3. So I browsed to backend :
prntscr.com/6xk164
4. Enabled user:
prntscr.com/6xk1cn
5. And activated his account:
prntscr.com/6xk1gw
6. Then I logged in to frontend and post on stream - to be sure if user can log in.
7. Then I logged in as another user.
8. I liked user post and commented it:
prntscr.com/6xk22b
9. Then liked his profile, sent PM and friend request:
prntscr.com/6xk2e5
10. Checked in backend if emails are in queue... they are NOT
You disabled a lot of email notifications... but at lease new friends request should be sent.
So I assign developer tot his thread.
Thanks, we disabled some of the notifications as default. Don't want to overload users with emails.
But as you said, the "Friend Request" is enabled and should be sent.
Thanks for assigning it to a developer.

Hi Ofer,
because your FTP that you provided at site info not pointing to your site. I cant give a try with this solution, could you please try this:
edit /components/com_community/libraries/notification.php around line 167, find this code
case 'friends':case 'friends':
$sendIt = true;
break;
I found the case 'friends': twice (333 and 673).
Made changes once at each and once at both. Neither way worked.
I gave you new FTP info in the post.
I hope you can now access and change the files.
Thanks,
Ofer
Hi Ofer,
regarding the code, the email is added to mailqueu. could you please try to purge sent at email queue (jomsocial backend)?
after that try again to add friend.
let me know the result. and I saw your site still using 4.0.3, if you doesnt mind, can you upgrade it to 4.0.5?
Regards
Hi,
I tried it again and it still does not work.
You can try with user qwqw which was activated from the backend.
As for upgrading to 4.0.5, no we have no plans to upgrade at the moment.
Every time when we upgrade, the upgrade deletes 80% of our customization.
We are close to going live so we cannot afford another set back at this time.
We will upgrade in the future after we go live and have time to verify what will be lost by upgrading without delaying our current timeline.
