users cant register cause it says they need to log in first

ISSUE SUMMARY:
when users click on register they are taken to the jomsocial front page with a messaege saying login first please
i suspect its a rights problem, but i havnt been able to find where from.

STEPS TO REPLICATE:

click "register", in the top left

jomsocial front page is displayed with system message "please login first". additionally clicking on the register button on this page lands in the same place

You have menu misconfiguration. Joomla! uses JomScoial menu item ID as parent menu item for all JomSocial related pages. usually it should be JomSocial frontpage. In your case it's "Connect List" menu iyem in "hidden connect" menu. You've set it as "Registered".

This menu item ID (517) is inherited by all JomSocial pages also with access settings. Thus users are asked to log in before they could register. Just set this menu item to Public... or fix your menu creating JomScoial frontpage menu item and make sure it will have lowest menu item ID.

- Instead of saying: 'it's not working', explain the problem in detail.
- Screenshots with the URL visible in them and the problem marked are more than welcome.
- Tell us how to replicate the problem, we can't fix it if we can't find it.
- Make sure that your site/server meets JomSocial System Requirements
- Make sure to setup JomSocial Cron Job
- Always provide us with access details to the backend and ftp. We need it to debug problems.
- If you have a similar problem, but a solution you found isn't working, open a new thread instead of 'merging' with an existing one.

ive set the activity stream display for the front page to members only but can still see everything when im not logged in, did i miss something?
