ISSUE SUMMARY:
I have several issues that I have attempted to fix over the past few days to no avail:

1. During the new user registration page, I enter a test user's info and click on next (to select the multiprofile) but nothing happens 70% of the time when I click the button. I have to close google chrome, then reopen it, re-enter the info all over again, and pray that it works. Seems to happen less with firefox, but that could also be because I only try it on firefox when it stops working on chrome and the browser is fresh. The button should work whether or not the browser's cache is cleared.

2. Once I am able to make it to the next page (to choose the multiprofile) then I run into another js issue in the upload avatar page (plupload.min.js:2 Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read property 'currentStyle' of null) is what I see in the firebug console. I click the upload image button and nothing happens, I then have to skip this step (out of necessity rather than choice) and then navigate myself back to the profile page to then edit the profile image and avatar and other profile info. That leads me to issue #3

3. When I hover the mouse over profile in the profile menu, again 70% of the time no dropdown menu appears which of course makes it difficult for a new user to update their information or even their avatar that they couldn't update earlier during registration. IF the user has somehow stuck around after all of this, then when they go to their profile page and try to click on one of the tabs to view one of their other applications, nothing happens. I believe there is a js conflict issue that is the cause of all this but cannot figure out what it is or how to resolve it.

Thanks,
Adam

Hi, Adam.

Could you point me to registration form? This one:
www.musicstartshere.org/login1/registration
is Joomla! core registration.

Also, where is your Community? Please, post an URL.

- Instead of saying: 'it's not working', explain the problem in detail.
- Screenshots with the URL visible in them and the problem marked are more than welcome.
- Tell us how to replicate the problem, we can't fix it if we can't find it.
- Make sure that your site/server meets JomSocial System Requirements
- Make sure to setup JomSocial Cron Job
- Always provide us with access details to the backend and ftp. We need it to debug problems.
- If you have a similar problem, but a solution you found isn't working, open a new thread instead of 'merging' with an existing one.

- Use the "Thank You" feature on any post that helped you

Michal,

You are on the live site which does not have the community on it. The test site is musicstartshere.org/1

Dimas,

Thank you for your very very helpful answer. Could you have Michal or one of the other support guys reply to this? The reason I ask is because either A) You are more focused on replying to customer issues than actually trying to solve them or B) You really don't understand the custom Joomla templates.

I am almost sure the answer is A, but for anybody else that reads this and has ever gotten the "it's your template that is causing it, I changed to default template" response - most custom templates have their own custom module positions that aren't the same as the default joomla ones. So if Dimas switches to the ProStar template and the problem is magically fixed, then it doesn't mean that it's the template. Any one of the many modules that are loaded in the custom template's module positions wouldn't appear either which would give the impression that the template is to blame when in reality it could have been any one of the modules that now don't appear.

Dimas, I set up a new install of the exact template and that you said was the issue and installed jomsocial on it and it worked perfectly. It's not the template that was causing it. You guys put out such an amazing product and then water it down with such BS replys... at least you can tell that Michal really does care about getting you the best answer...

Thanks again for all your hard work trying to solve my issue...
(PS. if you really want to see how great customer service goes, check out the Jevent support forums and check out their replys)

EDIT**** in the firebug console, I keep getting this: components/com_community/assets/vendors/plupload.min.js:2 Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read property 'currentStyle' of null what does that mean?

Hi Adam,

Well, I aware some of them caused by template issue, we will help you as far as the issue also happens on Joomla default template, if the issue only comes from 3rd party template you should contact them directly and discuss with them. Because it can be conflict issue with their Javascript or CSS.. So the best thing to test Jomsocial you should use the Joomla default template and compare with with your 3rd party template

And back to your issue.. I try again to check your issue on your Joomla template (not protostar), I try to register to your site first, and when I fill the avatat I dont see any issue there, I can upload avatar very well.. and I dont see error " (plupload.min.js:2 Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read property 'currentStyle' of null)" like you said.

Thank you

Dimas,

I believe the issue originally was from the upgrade from 3 to 4. What I ended up doing (and the reason the login works now) is I had to uninstall jomsocial completely, reinstall 4 as a brand new install, then move the old community tables into the new ones in order to get everything working again. Not to be a dick but that doesn't sound like anything template related to me. In any event, it appears that the issue has been resolved for now and I was wondering if you ever got the top members module working right again?

Thanks,

Adam

Hi Adam,

Thank you for your update and that is good information for us.

Well, the module top members is not fixed yet, we have some bugs there. Maybe will be fixed in next package or we will provide the patch once it fixed.

thank you
