Hi Albertus,

this is very strange. When logged in as a super user it works fine, but if you log in as a regular user it doesnt. I have added login details of a test regular user to the site details for you to try.

Hi Andy,

that because johndoe not at event attender, so he must cannot invite any people to that event. I confirmed this is a bug.
please wait for the fix.

the issue will be fixed at jomsocial next release. I cant give you a patch, because lots off files changes.
