Profile type search

Hello,

Not sure this is the right way to do but, I have created 5 multiple profiles:
- couple (female/male)
- couple (homo male/male)
- couple (lesbian female/female)
- Single Male
- Single Female

The couples have 2 FIELD GENDER: FIELD_GENDER and FIELD_GENDER_2 when the single have only 1 of course.

So I would be able to search for couple or single. But there profile type does not appear in the search.

Also how to search by gender, FIELD_GENDER but how can if someone search only for FIELD_GENDER = 'FEMALE' he will get all FIELD_GENDER= 'FEMALE' or FIELD_GENDER_2='FEMALE' (so it will include the couple male/female, or female/female)

In search you could search only field values - not profile types. Each field is separated so search is performed in certain tables in database. So searching for FIELD_GENDER_2 = FEMALE will search in different table than just FIELD_GENDER.

Probably you'll need additional field in which type of profile will be specified.

Or you may check this extension: extensions.joomla.org/extension/xius-for-jomsocial

- Instead of saying: 'it's not working', explain the problem in detail.
- Screenshots with the URL visible in them and the problem marked are more than welcome.
- Tell us how to replicate the problem, we can't fix it if we can't find it.
- Make sure that your site/server meets JomSocial System Requirements
- Make sure to setup JomSocial Cron Job
- Always provide us with access details to the backend and ftp. We need it to debug problems.
- If you have a similar problem, but a solution you found isn't working, open a new thread instead of 'merging' with an existing one.

Do you mean another field which the type of profile will be copied to and I will be able to query it? How do you do that?

I mean that you need a field if you want to search something. Profile type is just like category for fields... something like set of fields. So you can't search profile type itself as it's not a FIELD.

So you need to create a FIELD in which you provide options that corresponds to profile type:

- couple (female/male)
- couple (homo male/male)
- couple (lesbian female/female)
- Single Male
- Single Female

Then user - when searching - will choose field and check what profile type is he/she interested in.

- Instead of saying: 'it's not working', explain the problem in detail.
