I feel like this is probably a silly question but I haven't had any luck searching for an answer. Is it possible to have a textarea field with a WYSIWYG editor? Our users need to be able to easily add simple formatting such as bold and italics. Is there a plugin or add-on that allows for this?

My site uses JCE Editor, so I was able to use the info here to get JCE Editor to work with JomSocial's textarea field: www.joomlacontenteditor.net/support/foru...tom-joomla-component

It was super easy!

I think in the past JomSocial has said not to use a WYSIWYG editor on the front end due to potential security issues, but JCE Editor is pretty safe. It allows for profiles for different usergroups and profiles for front end versus back end of the site, so you can choose to limit what codes front end users are allowed to use. JCE does all of the work, you just use their nifty little code from that link.
