First if I understand correctly the admin can sets visibility of a field to "Personal" which would show that field only to the member AND only in editing mode.

However, the issue is that there is no signal to the end-user that hey this is only visible to you!
Even worse is that the set privacy icon shows the usual options (Public, Site members, Friends, Only me).

IMO fields set to "Personal" visibility needs to be signaled to user so they feel comfortable to enter that information and know they wont be able to over-right that setting.

Is there a way to fix this?

But public content is marked by icon (every privacy status is) - in this case it's a globe icon.
