You should hack this file components/com_community/lbraries/privacy.php find this code :

			$access[ 'public' ]		= true;
			$access[ 'members' ]	= true;

		{
			$access[ 'members' ]	= true;
			$access[ 'friends' ]	= true;

i´ved change the code. by profile edit section is it working great. but the default status is public anymore.
and on the activity stream is the problem not solved

Hi Stefan,

You can change it from Jomsocial configuration->Privacy, and set "Default User Privacy" then reset the exising user privacy

i hope it will help

the default selected privacy option is still public on activity wall and edit profile details

That is from old setting, which from the old registration, you should change it manually..
