Upload Profile photo - can't edit or rotate on iPhone
We are encouraging our members to upload profile photos as many hadn't, Some of them try to do this by taking a picture on their phone and uploading it from there.
Then if they try to edit/resize the photo they can't do that on the smartphone screen. Is there something wrong with our site, or is the functionality not in place for this to work on Mobile.........? (if that is the case please fix this for Jomsocial 4 as that version is meant to work well on Mobile!!!!)
Also, we find that the user holds the phone 'Portrait' to take the photo (which is normal I think) , but then when they upload the photo into Jomsocial the photo is on its side. The user wants to rotate the photo 90 degrees, but can't.
If they decide to take another photo it is hard for them to work out which way up to hold the phone, so they have to try a few times to get it right. But most of them give up before then!
I think a rotate 90 degrees button is essential please!
This is happening on our dev site, where we are implementing the Socialize template, and on our live site with our old template. Please let us know if this a bug or an urgent Feature Request!! Thanks
Could you try to upload nad resize photo on our community (JS 4.0) and demo site (JS 3.2.15) and thus confirm its a bug.
As for rotated photo. When it's taken by camera EXIF data are saved in file. Data contains information about photo and if it was taken as landscape or portrait. So when photo is uploaded library that converts photo loads it in original format basing on EXIF data. So I agree that solution here will be built-in rotate option.
Please, post about it in Community.
- Instead of saying: 'it's not working', explain the problem in detail.
- Screenshots with the URL visible in them and the problem marked are more than welcome.
- Tell us how to replicate the problem, we can't fix it if we can't find it.
- Make sure that your site/server meets JomSocial System Requirements
- Make sure to setup JomSocial Cron Job
- Always provide us with access details to the backend and ftp. We need it to debug problems.
- If you have a similar problem, but a solution you found isn't working, open a new thread instead of 'merging' with an existing one.

I have tested this on both 4.0 and the demo site on iPhone and you can't grab the corners of the transparent box to resize.....so it is a bug. I think this method of resizing may never work on a smartphone screen - you may need a different method?
"The reason why it is not working on 3.2 is that we use "imageareaselect" javascript made in pre-smartphone era when touch screen phones were just a little more than a fantasy."
So I'll report it as a bug and this should be fixed in upcoming JomSocial 4.0.
Thank you for your report.

In JomSocial 4 RC2 we added avatar rotation feature. Could you test it in our Community?
