I'm in need of help again. I want my groups to be sorted in alphabetical order. You gave me one solution (
See previous post
) but I noticed something. It will only display the groups I've joined. I wish for the link in my navigation to show "All Groups".
On the backend (under menu item type > Community) I chose 'All Groups'. But when I click on the link, it only shows groups I've added. Is this a bug? Or am I looking in the wrong area?
And would I run into problems if I choose System Links > External Url> and just copied and paste the group link page with it ending in "/index.php/memberarea/my-places/display?sort=alphabetical" ?
Hi, Arthur.
Could you point me to menu where you have menu item that link to groups? is it in JomSocial toolbar?
There should be no problems with adding external url like one in your post. But - not sure - it may require full url... but give it a try.
Hi, Arthur.
You probably mean "my Places" under "Member area". This menu item shows correct all groups. I removed Super User from group "29 Park" so it will be not shown under "My groups". So now when you enter "My paces", "29 Park" is on top but Super User doesn't belong to that group. When you click on "My groups" you'll see that this group is not present there.
So menu link is fine.
And I confirm that creating external url menu item with link like:
my-domain.com/pmc/index.php/memberarea/m...es?sort=alphabetical
will work as expected - displaying alphabetically sorted list of groups.
I'm sorta confused about your reply.
Let me do some screen shots so you know exactly what's going on.
1) On my website, groups are called "Places" (
awesomescreenshot.com/02e3ycqlba
)
2) I want the menu item called "Places" (or groups) to be sorted alphabetically. So I edited the code which your team gave me (
See code edit
) and now when I go here it sorts everything alphabetically. Great. It works! (
awesomescreenshot.com/0da3ycu617
)
But the problem I'm having now is, that even though this page is set for public, it's asking for me to log in to view. Menu item is already set for public. It can be seen publicly, but can't be accessed.
What is going on here? Do I need to change permissions somewhere?
Btw this is not the initial concern, but closely related. I hope you don't mind me not making a new thread.
Hi, Arthur.
It's because you are redirected a while you access "Places". When you hoover over "Places" menu item in menu you have:
picturemeclubbing.com/pmc/index.php/places
(which is "Places" with public access)
But when you land on this page, in next few seconds you're redirected to:
picturemeclubbing.com/pmc/index.php/memb...es?sort=alphabetical
(which is "My Places" with registered access).
So change access level for "My Places" to public.
Since my places only should appear for a person that has logged in, how can I achieve the alpha listing without the page being made public? Is it doing this from the code edit given to me?
Hi, Arthur.
I've tried to explain it to you before you used my colleges hack :)
Revert your change.
Then... ah, well, just revert it and I'll do this for you - then I'll explain ;)
Hi, Arthur.
No, I haven't touched anything in code.
HI, Arthur.
I've noticed that you provided TWO different dev sites URLs:
picturemeclubbing.com/det/
picturemeclubbing.com/pmc
I remember that in previous thread I supported
picturemeclubbing.com/det/
. How many dev sites you have? You should have only ONE (One supported domain and ONE dev site).
So issue described in this thread should be fixed in
picturemeclubbing.com/det/
?
