Welcome the Technical Support section. Help us in assisting you by providing us with a concise and descriptive elaboration of your issues. Be specific and if possible, provide us with a step-by-step instruction in replicating your problem.
Noticed a 3 digit user ID is created upon registration. Does this limit the # of users in Jomsocial to 999? Is there a limit on no. of users that can be created in the system? Is it possible to change the user ID to a 6 or 8 digit number generated randomly once a user completes profile registration? This could be a private key/ token and used in authentication.
Also, in our setting a user can be a part of multiple private groups. Is there a way for the user to specify unique user id [i.e. share user id as identification token] when making a request to join any groups? That way, groups/ admins would recognize unique users [even if they happen to have the same name or other profile details].
JomSocial just uses Joomla! user id - doesn't create own user id (ids you can see in JomSocial -> Monitor -> Members are Joomla! user alike).
No, users are not limited to 999. After you reach 999 ID number, next user will be created with ID 1000.
So all your further question apply to Joomla! not JomSocial. JomSocial will follow Joomla! rules and use any IDs there will be.
probably you can do what you describe but IDs must be unique. I don't know how you could achieve this - never tried it. So please ask on Joomla! forum or any Joomla! developer forum.
- Instead of saying: 'it's not working', explain the problem in detail.
- Screenshots with the URL visible in them and the problem marked are more than welcome.
- Tell us how to replicate the problem, we can't fix it if we can't find it.
- Make sure that your site/server meets JomSocial System Requirements
- Make sure to setup JomSocial Cron Job
- Always provide us with access details to the backend and ftp. We need it to debug problems.
- If you have a similar problem, but a solution you found isn't working, open a new thread instead of 'merging' with an existing one.
