I presume that this issue is present on your dev site.
Unfortunately I can't login to your site backend there.
Could you check access credentials (edit your first post and correct them).
- Instead of saying: 'it's not working', explain the problem in detail.
- Screenshots with the URL visible in them and the problem marked are more than welcome.
- Tell us how to replicate the problem, we can't fix it if we can't find it.
- Make sure that your site/server meets JomSocial System Requirements
- Make sure to setup JomSocial Cron Job
- Always provide us with access details to the backend and ftp. We need it to debug problems.
- If you have a similar problem, but a solution you found isn't working, open a new thread instead of 'merging' with an existing one.
- Use the "Thank You" feature on any post that helped you

The issue is present on both, the production site and the dev site. However I'm reluctant to hand out credentials to the production site if it's not absolutely necessary.

Please try again with the same credentials. I'm not sure what happened there, but I had to (re)set the password of that account.
You just set Profil (Alias: profil) menu item in Hauptmenu for registered only thus prfiles ware locked down for guests. I disabled this menu item and now profiles are viewable. If you still want to have profile link here, change it to menu item alias and point to Profile menu item in JomSocial toolbar menu.
