If a user changes their profile cover photo, it will show up in the stream for all members of the site (if they select "Filtered by All streams") no matter what privacy settings the user has. As an example I have a profile set to only allow friends access and photos are set to only me, yet when I added a profile cover page it showed in the stream to all users which it shouldn't do.
Hi, Andrew.
That stream activity is related with user and profile rather than with photos. So no photos privacy settings will apply to i.
You can hide that kind of activity on stream by disabling user points rule.
Browse to Backend -> Components -> JomSocial -> Configuration -> User points look for rule related with profile cover and disable it. From now on no cover image will be posted on stream.
But the profile has Profile View set to Friends so why can non-friends see that item in their stream?
(For suggestion about turning it off, I want to be able to assign a point to users for doing this and as I understand that you have to also publish it?)
Hi, Andrew.
Profile view is not the same as profile related activity - cover upload.
This is global community activity and you can't set any privacy towards it.
You can only disable it.
Not being able to allow a user to choose what others see of their activites seems to go totally against your advertised statement of "We take privacy seriously-Members want to be sure that their information is protected. JomSocial allows them to choose the privacy level of each post and even modify it later." This sounds like a major missunderstanding of "privacy" and how it should work.
This is a big issue for me and brinngs into question just how suitable your product is for me and if I was misled by your sales information with regards to giving users good control over their content.
It seems that the ability to offer users points for activites totally breaks any privacy on the system.
Hi, Andrew.
I'll report this as a bug to our developers.
I will update you as soon I'll have their answer.
Hi, Andrew.
Bug report was accepted so this issue will be fixed. I'll update you with a fix as soon ass possible... but it may take a bit time.
Hi, Andrew.
Please, make a safe copy of this file:
ROOT/components/com_community/controllers/photos.php
Then replace original file with patched one from package.
Putting the patched one in actually stops the user changing the image (having browsed and selected a new image when they click ok on the browser, nothing happens)
Hi, Andrew.
Are you sure? I just uploaded new cover to profile I have access to:
