I have disabled the likes feature for profiles on the back end, yet on the front end user prefferences, there is a tick box showing "Allow Others to 'Like' My Profile" - is this a bug or is there another setting somewhere so users don't get this option displayed?

Hi Andrew,

This is how to fix this , open this file omponents/com_community/templates/default/profile.preferences.php, find this code :

<li>
                        <label for="profileLikes" class="form-label">
                            <?php echo JText::_('COM_COMMUNITY_PREFERENCES_PROFILE_LIKES'); ?>
                        </label>
                        <div class="form-field">
                            <label class="label-checkbox">
                                <input type="checkbox" class="input checkbox title jomNameTips" title="<?php echo JText::_('COM_COMMUNITY_PROFILE_LIKE_ENABLE_DESC'); ?>" value="1" id="profileLikes-yes" name="profileLikes" <?php if ($params->get('profileLikes', 1) == 1) { ?>checked="checked" <?php } ?>/>
                                <?php echo JText::_('COM_COMMUNITY_PROFILE_LIKE_ENABLE'); ?>
                            </label>
                        </div>
                    </li>

change to :
<?php if($config->get('likes_profile')) { ?>
                    <li>
                        <label for="profileLikes" class="form-label">
                            <?php echo JText::_('COM_COMMUNITY_PREFERENCES_PROFILE_LIKES'); ?>
                        </label>
                        <div class="form-field">
                            <label class="label-checkbox">
                                <input type="checkbox" class="input checkbox title jomNameTips" title="<?php echo JText::_('COM_COMMUNITY_PROFILE_LIKE_ENABLE_DESC'); ?>" value="1" id="profileLikes-yes" name="profileLikes" <?php if ($params->get('profileLikes', 1) == 1) { ?>checked="checked" <?php } ?>/>
                                <?php echo JText::_('COM_COMMUNITY_PROFILE_LIKE_ENABLE'); ?>
                            </label>
                        </div>
                    </li>
                    <?php } ?>

thank you!

Thanks, that works. Does that mean it is now going to automaticaly included as part of the code in next release or will I have to enter it in again?

Not sure how fixed this is suposed to be, but "Respect the profile likes option" does now fix the problem talked about in this post, however if it is set to On so a user can then choose if they want to allow profile likes, that part is still not working(i.e. no matter what they set it to a like button always appears on their profile.)

Yes, I tried on this new version and that is what I'm saying, it is not fixed in full as although the option on the front end does now respect the back end setting, the "like" button always shows on the users profile even if they set "dont show"

for fixing this, open this file components/com_community/views/profile/view.html.php, find this code :

if ($isLikeEnabled = $like->enabled('profile')) {

replace to :
$isLikeEnabled = $like->enabled('profile') && $params->get('profileLikes',0)? 1 : 0;
            if ($isLikeEnabled) {
i hope it works :)
