Hi
We want to change the wording in the notification message for Events and Discussions. But we have found that if we do this then the site link in the message is no longer a hyperlink.
For instance we changed 'You can view the event here" to "You can RSVP and view the event here" by inserting the two words into the middle of the sentence using an override. The email notification arrives with the wording we want ""You can RSVP and view the event here" but the link isn't a hyperlink.
Please can you help? Thank you very much!
Hi, Susan.
It's on your live site or dev site?
I can't log in to your live site...
Hi, this is on our dev site that we have just tried this (latest version of Jomsocial), but we have also tried it on our live site and it is doing the same
Thanks!
Hi, Susan.
Ok, this is the constant for it (original):
COM_COMMUNITY_EMAIL_GROUP_EVENT="Hi {target},\n\n%1$s Group just added a new event.\n\nSubject: %2$s\n\nYou can view the event here:\n\n<a href=_QQQ_{url}_QQQ_>{url}</a>\n\nHave a nice day!"
You want to have it like this:
COM_COMMUNITY_EMAIL_GROUP_EVENT="Hi {target},\n\n%1$s Group just added a new event.\n\nSubject: %2$s\n\nYou can RSVP and view the event here:\n\n<a href=_QQQ_{url}_QQQ_>{url}</a>\n\nHave a nice day!"
I added it to your dev site. Could you try it?
Hi Michal,
You did exactly what we did, and the hyperlink disappeared just like when we did it! I don't want to post the screenshot with the link publicly, how can I send it to you if you need to see it?
Thanks!
Hi, Susan.
Upload it using this service:
prntscr.com/
and PM me a link.
Hi, Susan.
Ahhh... ok, I know why it's happening... when we create an overide:
COM_COMMUNITY_EMAIL_GROUP_EVENT="Hi {target},\n\n%1$s Group just added a new event.\n\nSubject: %2$s\n\nYou can RSVP and view the event here:\n\n<a href=_QQQ_{url}_QQQ_>{url}</a>\n\nHave a nice day!"
In a href are added " so they are create TWICE once by Joomla! -> " and second by code -> _QQQ_.
Just remove _QQQ_, use this:
COM_COMMUNITY_EMAIL_GROUP_EVENT="Hi {target},\n\n%1$s Group just added a new event.\n\nSubject: %2$s\n\nYou can RSVP and view the event here:\n\n<a href="{url}">{url}</a>\n\nHave a nice day!"
Thank you for this. We have done this fix.
But we also need to edit the text of the email notifying Personal Message, and the email notifying Discussion. The fix you have given us isn't working for these - please can you let us know how to edit those messages too?
Thanks a lot
Hi, Susan.
Hmmm, they should work exact te same way...
COM_COMMUNITY_EMAIL_GROUP_DISCUSSION = Hi {target},\n\n{actor} has recently posted a new discussion in the group, %1$s. Below is the discussion snippet that has been created.\n\nSubject:\n%2$s\n\nMessage:\n%3$s\n\nTo post a reply, you may visit the site at <a href="{url}">{url}</a>\n\nHave a nice day!
COM_COMMUNITY_EMAIL_GROUP_DISCUSSION_REPLY = Hi {target},\n\n{actor} has recently posted a reply in the discussion, %1$s, to which you were participating.\n\nMessage:\n%2$s\n\nTo post a reply, you may visit the site at <a href="{url}">{url}</a>\n\nHave a nice day!
Hi, Susan.
While doing language override use this:
COM_COMMUNITY_EMAIL_INBOX_SENT = Hi {target},\n\n{actor} just sent you a new message.\n\nTitle:\n%1$s\n\n%2$s\n\n\n\nYou can also read your new message on the site here:\n\n<a href="{url}">{url}</a>\n\n\nHave a nice day!
COM_COMMUNITY_EMAIL_INBOX_SENT_TEXT = Hi {target},\n\n{actor} just sent you a new message.\n\nTitle:\n%1$s\n\n%2$s\n\n\n\nYou can also read your new message on the site here:\n\n{url}\n\n\nHave a nice day! no change needed here
Hi Michal,
Please could provide me with the language override for the notification email for a Group Announcement, as we have had the same problem that it doesn't work when we try!!
Also, is there a way of adding the text from the Description field into the email notification (like in a discussion, where you see the whole message). It would seem sensible to me if this was a standard part of the notification......
Thanks a lot
Hi, Susan.
Please, paste language constant you want to override.
Adding new variable displayed in message will require core files to hack. Email content is loaded with constant that contains few placeholders for variables. Function related to message loads data to variables. If function doesn load certain variables... then it can't be displayed. Functions and variables are stored in helper files... and, yes, they are core files.
Recently you posted a lot of customization and feature request. We can't implement/customize them all so maybe good idea will be to hire professional developer
