I see that you're loading jQuery 1.8.1 and the version that ships with Joomla 3.3 is jQuery 1.11.1. Instead of loading two full versions of almost the same library (everything that works under 1.8 should work fine with 1.11 since there aren't any major changes), can yours be disabled somewhere?

Thanks for your concern.
There is a small mistake in understanding.
Though jomsocial forked jquery 1.8.1 but later on there has been a lot customization and enhancement
and which is standalone and joms.jquery-1.8.1.min.js is not now only jquery. It's become jomsocial js library which is only for jomsocial.
And top of that we are reducing the confusion and make our all js code compatible with jQuery latest version (1.11.1 or later on) for our next major release 3.3+
