Status updates don't post in events or groups, and are behaving erratically

We are experiencing similar issues to #83370, #84057, #85246

- If we write a status in an event it just disappears

- if we write a status in a group it disappears.

- if we write a status on the Home page Activity Stream it disappears. (Now we have turned off Home page Activity Stream until we can sort this)

if we write a Status on the Profile pages it disappears.

HOWEVER, if you post an emoticon, then sometimes the status you write with it shows, sometimes it doesn't. Then if a status shows with an emoticon, a new status without an emoticon will sometimes show afterwards.

However if you then go to a different area of the site and try and status the same problem occurs.

Also, if you paste something into the status it will sometimes work, but sometimes won't. (These are problems I have seen that user James experienced).

Posting comments to wall posts isn't working properly either. If you write a comment and try and click 'Post Comment' nothing happens. if you then hit return, you can then click on Post comment.
Similar to #82935

Sometimes when we test it, it does allow us to post a status. Please don't reply saying there isn't a problem - there definitely is a problem, so please test several times!

Also, we actually don't want to have people posting statuses in all these situations, we want to turn off status in some places but not all. (And we want to have the option to turn this on again).

Ideally we would have

- in Events you can post a status
- in Groups you can post a Status
- a summary Activity Stream on our home page, but with no ability to post a Status, photo or Event there (ie hide Status box).
- on Profile no ability to post a Status or photos or Event (ie hide Status box).

Basically, at the moment we do want users to be posting Personal statuses or Personal Events, so we want to turn those off anyway. Can you recommend how to do this?

Finally, in some group events eg Group D Block - drinks - you can write on the wall. In other Events nothing happens if you click on recent Activities.

Thank you.

Hi, Susan.

Please provide us with working administrator credentials.
I can't login to your site.
Please, edit your first post and add credentials to corresponding fields.

I get: prntscr.com/40795y when try to login to your site backend.

- Instead of saying: 'it's not working', explain the problem in detail.
- Screenshots with the URL visible in them and the problem marked are more than welcome.
- Tell us how to replicate the problem, we can't fix it if we can't find it.
- Make sure that your site/server meets JomSocial System Requirements
- Make sure to setup JomSocial Cron Job
- Always provide us with access details to the backend and ftp. We need it to debug problems.
- If you have a similar problem, but a solution you found isn't working, open a new thread instead of 'merging' with an existing one.

Hi, Susan.

Yes, there is a problem. But I'm afraid it's not within JomSocial but rather with your server/hosting service.
I tested few times on dev site you provided us.
And sometimes I success with posting and sometimes I fail... it behave very erratic.
I checked error console and this is what I found: prntscr.com/40kgmk

First error is 403 and it's related with server. Here you could read more about it:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HTTP_403

Second error is timeout: ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT
It also could be connected with hosting... but you may try this solution: www.youtube.com/watch?v=3P3mZcj_Z1Q

You should ask your hosting provider for assistance in this it's server side issue.

As for second request.

You may post a feature request here: uservoice.jomsocial.com/forums/101561-feature-request
or if you don't count for Community votes, consider to hire a professional developer:
