JomSocial Expired

Hi :)

As i've installed Jomsocial, i realized that the Jomsocial menu did not got created at all.

When i login and go to the community (obviously then logged in as user), the Toolbar shows only the Home, Global Notifications, Friend Invites, New Messages and Logout buttons. Nothing else.

Since the Jomsocial menu is not showing on the Joomla menu manager, i cannot just add new links to the toolbar.

What should I do then?

Thanks in advance :)

Hi, Ana.

You can create it by your own :)
Browse to Menu manager and create menu:

title: JomSocial toolbar
type: jomsocial
description: JomSocial menu for internal navigation

Then in JomSocial toolbar create this structute:

Profile
|— Change Profile Picture
|— Change Profile Video
|— Edit Profile
|— Edit Details
|— Privacy
|— Preferences
|— Customize My Page
Friends
|— Show All
|— Search
|— Advanced Search
|— Invite Friends
|— Request Sent
|— Pending my approval

It's really good that you want to do it yourself - that's the way one can learn a lot, by experience. Great approach! :D

- Instead of saying: 'it's not working', explain the problem in detail.
- Screenshots with the URL visible in them and the problem marked are more than welcome.
- Tell us how to replicate the problem, we can't fix it if we can't find it.
- Make sure that your site/server meets JomSocial System Requirements
- Make sure to setup JomSocial Cron Job
- Always provide us with access details to the backend and ftp. We need it to debug problems.
- If you have a similar problem, but a solution you found isn't working, open a new thread instead of 'merging' with an existing one.

- Use the "Thank You" feature on any post that helped you

JomSocial Expired

Hi Michal, thanks for your reply :)

So, I do know that i can create the menu myself. The problem here is that none of the "usual" things work. It didn't created the menu on install (which usually does) and when I create one it just does not work. No toolbar. I did checked and re-checked for possible issues with templates (or even in case I did forgot to assign menus, etc). I actually got it working but in a weird manner :D

I woke up at 3 in the morning wondering if it could be an issue with the PHP version. I can only tell you how I did it and that it works now:

1-.Uninstalled everything and cleaned up any leftover file or database tables(from Jomsocial)
2-.Made sure that anything with Joomla is up to date under PHP 5.4
2-.Prepared latest Jomsocial package + 3.0.5.3 + 3.1.1
3-.Switched server to work with PHP V5.3
4-.Installed the Jomsocial packages (older to newest, just one after another)
5-.The 3.0.5.3 version of Jomsocial already created the menu as I've expected and the next packages just updated the stuff, obvious.
6-.Switched server back to PHP 5.4
7-.Everything is working like a charm and any new link that i'm adding to the Menu it gets added to the toolbar without problem.

Sometimes i just get things working and I kind of guess what the problem may be but others I just fix it without a clue of really why, i guess it's a part of the learning process. As a pro, what do you think it may be the issue? Curious I am :D

Again, thank you.
