Creating multiple profiles with individual avatars, covers and walls
So far so good. I can create multiple profiles with different fields so this is great. Now, what I need to do is to assign different avatars to those different profiles I have created. Also to change the cover image for a specific avatar.
Everything I have done in my original profiles wall is still there when I switch to another profile. Is there a way to separate these profiles. I want only content related to a specific profile to appear. So when I switch over to an another profile than avatar, cover image and all wall posts displayed are those I added for that specific profile.
For further question try to ask JomSocial Profile Types developers. maybe they could also add some feature that will help you achieve what you need. I think that buying this extension is far better than hiring a developer :)

Yes, but only by custom coding. In template you'll need to add conditions that will check what profile type is current profile displayed and proper links should be displayed (or structure). but I'll not provide you with a full solution for this as it is out of scope of technical support.
