Joomla v3.3.0, JomSocial v3.2.0.5, Socialize v1.2.7.
We've defined in custom profile a field for mobile phone, see the attached file.
We'e limited the amount of chars to 10 for min & max, users must enter 10 numbers.
If we set this field as required, it works fine, users have to enter the 10 chars, if less or more then they've got error message.
That's fine.
If we set this field as not required, user can enter less or more than 10 chars, no errors displayed and the wrong stuff is stored in the field.
In both cases we should get the error.

This will work that way: field values are checked only if they are mark as REQUIRED.
Limitation for maximum characters works. But not for minimum as system not check this field at all... if it's not required.

It works like this:

1. Field is not required:
- you can enter only limited number of characters = 10
- but also you may decide to not fill that field at all so numbers of characters is = 0
and 0 < 10 so you can't leave it empty... but field is not required... so you can.

Conclusion: if field is not required minimum characters limitation MUST be ignored.
If system will not ignored it then "not required" is not true.

2. Field is required:
- you can't enter more that 10 characters
- if you enters 0 or less than 10 characters = 0 < 10 or 10-x < 0
- field is checked so you can't leave it empty or with less than 10 characters.
