Hi
I've searched through the forums and found answers regarding compression stopping the icons from showing.
I contacted bowthemes, who made the template and they said
template is not problem, problem is your overwrite jomsocial on your site, if you remove folder: com_community in templates/bt_metro/html, it works fine again,
if you want to overwrite jomsocial, please create a new theme in: ....components\com_community\templates instead of copy overwrite files into html of template, then open your admin, choose jomsocial theme by your theme you created,
BT Metro template create base on normal joomla template, so there is anything compress.
Does this sound plausible and if so, are there any instructions on creating a new theme?
Also...the icons show fine in chrome and IE so is the above really the solution??
Sounds strange... but could be possible - depends how template works. Usually we recommend users to create overrides in current template in /templates.
But template developer point you out another way to create overrides: by creating new folder in ROOT/components/com_community/templates. And yes, this is another valid way.
Just copy whole "default" folder and change it name to what fist you (but without non-Latin characters and spaces). This folder should contain all files stored in original "default" folder but you can replace thoce files customized by you.
Then browse to Backen -> JomSocial -> Configuration -> Templates, check your template on the list and click button in upper right corner.

my folder is called "michal" and thus the template.
Check if template developer was right ;)
- Instead of saying: 'it's not working', explain the problem in detail.
- Screenshots with the URL visible in them and the problem marked are more than welcome.
- Tell us how to replicate the problem, we can't fix it if we can't find it.
- Make sure that your site/server meets JomSocial System Requirements
- Make sure to setup JomSocial Cron Job
- Always provide us with access details to the backend and ftp. We need it to debug problems.
- If you have a similar problem, but a solution you found isn't working, open a new thread instead of 'merging' with an existing one.
- Use the "Thank You" feature on any post that helped you
Just to say that this solution worked....now all the icons (comment, report, like, etc) in the streams all work in Firefox!
As you say, Michal, it's not the best way of doing overrides as the edited files are now all mixed up with the non-edited ones, but it all displays correctly now which is the important thing!!
