Login not sending out e-mails/Facebook connect hanging

The subject says it all.
Logins are not sending out e-mails - I have to manually approve users.
Also Facebook connect hangs on profile upload

Please check FTPand administrator credentials you provided us.
Both don't work for me.


- Instead of saying: 'it's not working', explain the problem in detail.
- Screenshots with the URL visible in them and the problem marked are more than welcome.
- Tell us how to replicate the problem, we can't fix it if we can't find it.
- Make sure that your site/server meets JomSocial System Requirements
- Make sure to setup JomSocial Cron Job
- Always provide us with access details to the backend and ftp. We need it to debug problems.
- If you have a similar problem, but a solution you found isn't working, open a new thread instead of 'merging' with an existing one.

- Use the "Thank You" feature on any post that helped you

I tried login via FB connect, but I get this : The system was unable to detect your Facebook Login. Please try again. I think you didnot setup the FB connect correctly, please you read this documentation.jomsocial.com/wiki/Setting_up_Facebook_Connect follow it correctly.

Regarding email issue, I suggest you contact your hosting provider, seems the email system is not working there..

Activation emails seem to be a joomla issue not a jomsocial one. Have tested a clean install and they're not working.
Will review the FB login and report back.

I went through it.
FB app the same details that worked OK on the old J1.5 site
Everything else enabled incl GD, cURL and fsockopen.... still stumped.
