Hello,
Please let me point out some JomSocial features that are not (yet ;-) localised, that is that can actually not be translated to the user's language:
- Gender (FIELD_GENDER) in profile can not be translated. If the field options are set to something different from Male/Female then gender statistics on dashboard don't work, user's default avatar depending on gender don't work etc.
- Photos uploader is hard coded in English (Javascript)
- Date of birth is displayed in english on user profile. My understanding is that the PHP date() function is used, and this function can not output dates in other languages.
- Default album name for group covers is "[GroupName]'s Cover". Seems to be hardcoded.
Just for you to add this in your todo list ;-)
Hi Nrichard,
Thanks for your humble concern.
I have noted and informed to our developer.
Thanks again.
Hi Nrichard,
I am back with some info for you.
First of all I like to introduce you our new feature requested area, where our valuable customer asking lots of valuable feature.
So if you have any suggestions, please post at
uservoice.jomsocial.com
Our related concern will take care the issues.
What I am seeing with our latest repository, the Date of birth (at profile) is now translatable. Hopefully it will come up with our next version.
Thanks
Thank you for your answer. I know your "new feature requested area" and think it should rather be used for real new features. When some parts of JomSocial can't be translated, and considering that the rest of JomSocial can, I think it's more like a bug or minor enhancement that has nothing to do in a tool done for finding out what are the major features expected by users in future releases.
This is really important for you to correct those "minor things" that will make JomSocial a real quality product. Those small bugs or inconsistencies are ruining JomSocial reputation.
I really appreciate your will.
And FYI, I have already added it as task and hopefully our developer team will take necessary step asap. Most probably will come with next version.
Thanks
Hello,
One more thing regarding localisation. When the com_community.country.ini language file is translated (in French in my case), the list of countries is not sorted anymore in the list when editing profile:
Hi Nrichard,
Thanks again for your humble concern.
I have informed the problem to our developer.
Thanks
I did some tests on the latest version of JomSocial (3.2.0.4) and here is an update:
This is fixed, with a minor new bug ( www.jomsocial.com/forum/profile-universa...nder-advanced-search )nrichard wrote: - Gender (FIELD_GENDER) in profile can not be translated. This is fixed (I did not test it much though).- Photos uploader is hard coded in English (Javascript)
This is NOT fixed.- Date of birth is displayed in english on user profile. My understanding is that the PHP date() function is used, and this function can not output dates in other languages.
This is NOT fixed.- Default album name for group covers is "[GroupName]'s Cover". Seems to be hardcoded.

Hi there.
Could you try to upgrade JomSocial to the latest 3.2.0.5 version to check if those issues were fixed?
Hello,
Could you please tell me what you have fixed among the problems I reported? Your bug tracker should be able to tell you...
Thank you
hi there.
Those issues were reported on older version, this's why I suggest to check if they'll also appear on latest stabel release, we simply need to make 100% sure.
If they were reported then you should have a ticket. If you have a ticket then you must have a status. And if you have a status you must be able to tell me if they were corrected or nor. Where am I wrong?
I'm sorry but your process should be able to tell your customers what was corrected for sure. And not "Maybe it was corrected or maybe not. Just test."
If your process does not support that, tell me and I'll indeed test. But then you should improve your process...
Hi there.
The issue with gender as far I can see is still not fixed, so I'm gonna provide you with fixed file as soon it'll be ready. About other problems, I need to consult with Ashraf about it.
