When I try to clear a date field on a profile (NOT read-only), nothing happens. The field seems to be protected.
When I change a date, the change appears. I then SAVE and the original date returns.
Critical Issue.
An aside. It would be nice to allow date entry in the chosen (display) format rather than only yyyy-mm-dd

By default the field date is required, you cant delete that value.. if you wanna achive this I suggest you change the field date type to "Text" instead of "Date" from costumize profile configuration in Jomsocial
This really puzzles me. First, what is the purpose of the Read Only selection? If that is set, I can understand not being able to delete but otherwise, why not? Unfortunately, our users are not perfect - sometimes they enter data in the wrong field! Text is not a good solution since we lose all date processing and formatting.
Also, I would like to report what I think is a BUG. When I select a date from the calendar, it appears properly in the field. However, when I SAVE it, the date changes to the previous day. The only way I could get my birth date right was to pick the next day. I don't look forward to trying to explain this to hundreds of our users.

TWO other problems
Installed 3.1.1 No one can change a cover - the selection panel is blank
Three users report that they cannot save changes to profile. Get message that password ad confirm do not agree. Cannot change password - get message that email is in use. Problem occurs on Firefox, not on Chrome.

In my most recent (lost) response, I said we'd live with the wield date behavious - just tell people that the date being off by one day is a JS feature.

Well, you need familiar with Joomla, because Jomsocial under Joomla component, if you know Joomla well, you will think Jomsocial is easy to manage or maybe hacking as well.
