I have multiple profile types and need to limit access to certain groups to just certain profile types. How do I do this?

HI, Larry.

Thank you for contacting us.
You can't limit access to a group - there is no such an option.
You may only moderate access to group - users send join request and you let only chosen in.
Other option is to create closed and hidden groups, then assign them as auto groups to certain profiles.
Then no one will see them so could not send join request and those who have certain profile type will be auto added to the group.
You may set those groups in profile types.

- Instead of saying: 'it's not working', explain the problem in detail.
- Screenshots with the URL visible in them and the problem marked are more than welcome.
- Tell us how to replicate the problem, we can't fix it if we can't find it.
- Make sure that your site/server meets JomSocial System Requirements
- Make sure to setup JomSocial Cron Job
- Always provide us with access details to the backend and ftp. We need it to debug problems.
- If you have a similar problem, but a solution you found isn't working, open a new thread instead of 'merging' with an existing one.

1. So if I add Group A to Profile type 1, anyone joining with Profile type 1 will be added to Group A, right?
2. If I add Group A to Profile type 1 and someone is already part of Profile type 1, will they be added to Group A and will they be notified of this so they can participate?

HI.

1. Yes, exactly. You may add more than one group.
2. No, in that case you'll need to add them to the group manually in backend (Backend -> Components -> JomSocial -> Monitor -> Members) and even then, they won't be notified - you'll need to send a email to those users.
