I see that Joomla 3.8.2 is now available. Is my current version of JomSocial, V4.5, compatible with Joomla 3.8.2? I am sorry to ask this every time Joomla comes out with a new version, but I upgraded to the new version of Joomla once and it caused trouble on my site. I just want to ensure that its safe to upgrade.

Yes, JomSocial 4.5 is fully compatible with Joomla! 2.8.2, you may safely upgrade.
Just remember to make safe copy before upgrade ;)
