I am able to see the 300 profiles in the jomsocial system but the dashboard says zero (0). the home page lists users, the user profile as a scroll bar but those scroll bars are now empty even though there are user profiles in the system.

What is your backend, FTP and phpmyadmin access?

This issue can be caused by old jomsocial version, which is on old jomsocial version the counter only will take the jomsocial users on stats not joomla users.
