As JomSocial is an Open Source - nearly anything is possible. The question is how complicated it will be and if you or your developer could do it ;)
Also more complex customizations will be a core hacks.
Core hacks are not recommended nor supported as they may not working with future JomSocial releases and/or cause issues that won't be not supported. Users with core files hack often refuse to upgrade their installation to keep those hacks and they are stuck with outdated and unsupported versions. Also, core hack will be overwritten during upgrade.
- Instead of saying: 'it's not working', explain the problem in detail.
- Screenshots with the URL visible in them and the problem marked are more than welcome.
- Tell us how to replicate the problem, we can't fix it if we can't find it.
- Make sure that your site/server meets JomSocial System Requirements
- Make sure to setup JomSocial Cron Job
- Always provide us with access details to the backend and ftp. We need it to debug problems.
- If you have a similar problem, but a solution you found isn't working, open a new thread instead of 'merging' with an existing one.
- Use the "Thank You" feature on any post that helped you
Thank you for your response. I understand what you are warning regarding core hacking - it maybe something a developer will need to do to get a desired outcome - at a cost.
While on the subject, could I ask how customisable is jomsocial. For example I'd like to use jomsocial, retaining some of its features and functions but edit the template to make less looking like a social network and more like website but with some of jomsocials functions and backend adminstrive control features
I appreciate this maybe an hard question to answer but just an overall view to see what I could be able to achieve with it
So it's up to you and your skills (or hired developer skills) how you'll customize it ;)
