I've checked JomSocial and the software looks really, really great. It has all the features I might need for the social network I want to create.
I have a question concerning the photo albums:
I see that I can make them public, viewable for site members, viewable for friends and visible only to me...
Is it possible to make photos viewable only to specific people. I'd like to open an album to someone whose member name I know (but who isn't necessarily a "friend"). Is this possible?

It's not possible out-of-the-box but as JomSocial is an Open Source you may customize it to add this feature.
Nevertheless it may be difficult (as JomSocial being Joomla! extension need to follow framework rules, Joomla! doesn't allow to assign view privileges to certain user, rather to group of users) and require help of an professional developer.
- Instead of saying: 'it's not working', explain the problem in detail.
- Screenshots with the URL visible in them and the problem marked are more than welcome.
- Tell us how to replicate the problem, we can't fix it if we can't find it.
- Make sure that your site/server meets JomSocial System Requirements
- Make sure to setup JomSocial Cron Job
- Always provide us with access details to the backend and ftp. We need it to debug problems.
- If you have a similar problem, but a solution you found isn't working, open a new thread instead of 'merging' with an existing one.
