We are currently use SocialEngine and incorporate a number of plugins to provide a community engagement platform for local government communities in Australia.

We are currently investigating using JomSocial as an alternative platform and are currently investigating whether it would be a good fit for us to use instead of SocialEngine. I was wondering if you could answer the following questions to help determine JomSocial's suitability for our purposes?

Is the front page of JomSocial configurable? What displays by default?

Do registered users and anonymous users have permissions to view User Profiles?

Is it possible to split local administrators into two levels of access? For example, Approvers who only have permission to edit group and event details and Administrators who have global access to the system and can edit any information at all?

Can their be an approval process for groups and events? Is it possible to have content that must be approved by multiple administrators?

Is there a email reminders capability to update group/event details for groups or events that have not been updated or logged into for a set period of time?

Is it possible to automatically deactivate a group/event that has been inactive for a set period of time?

Is there anyway to integrate social media feeds in user or group profiles?

How do the notifications work for JomSocial? Are these sent out when groups/events are added/updated? Are notifications customisable?

For the Supercharged package, what are the 35 modules and 16+ Addons that you receive?

Is there a demo version of JomSocial we can install to test?

Thank you for your interest on our product, let me try to answer your questions

Is the front page of JomSocial configurable? What displays by default?
=> Yes its configureable, you can show some modules there, by default you will see the activity stream on jomsocial home page

Do registered users and anonymous users have permissions to view User Profiles?
=> Yes, its configureable, you can permission for it.

Is it possible to split local administrators into two levels of access? For example, Approvers who only have permission to edit group and event details and Administrators who have global access to the system and can edit any information at all?
=> This feature will be available on next mayor version for ACL new features, but for now you can set admin access manually from User Managers, right now only admin and super user who has rule to do any edit actions

Can their be an approval process for groups and events? Is it possible to have content that must be approved by multiple administrators?
=> Yes this is possible :)

Is there a email reminders capability to update group/event details for groups or events that have not been updated or logged into for a set period of time?
=> Yes this is possible, we have feature Email Digests, its configureable as well :)

Is it possible to automatically deactivate a group/event that has been inactive for a set period of time?
=> I am sorry this is not possible, we dont have this feature, but for event it will be automatically go to past event and wont show on the event list

Is there anyway to integrate social media feeds in user or group profiles?
=> we have FBConnect feature, so user can login with it.. and another solution you can use JFB component (this is 3rd party extenstions), with it you can login with 3rd party social media account like instagram, twitter, FB, linkedin, etc..

How do the notifications work for JomSocial? Are these sent out when groups/events are added/updated? Are notifications customisable?
=> there is 2 kind notifications, global notifications, that is live notifications, and email notifications, for email you need setup cron job to send the emails on mail queue database

For the Supercharged package, what are the 35 modules and 16+ Addons that you receive?
=> you will get default 35 modules, like members module, search module, atc.. and for addons you will get the most popular addons from our 3rd party extenstions :)

Is there a demo version of JomSocial we can install to test?
=> for demo you only can look on this www.jomsocial.com/demo

a) Regarding the 3rd party extensions - Is there anywhere I can see what these extensions are? Like a list of them?
b) Regarding social media integration) Can a user's feeds from other social media accounts (Facebook Twitter ect) be displayed on their JomSocial feed?
c) Is there re-seller pricing available?
d) Does JomSocial have a RestAPI?

b. By default we only provide integration status from Facebook to Jomsocial, and Jomsocial to facebook, i am not sure if 3rd party component JFB component provide more than we have ;)

Thank-you for helping me with all these questions. Just a couple more follow up questions (hopefully not too many more!)

1) Is it possible to assign a group to multiple categories?
2) Regarding having multiple administrator approval for content, do you have an example of how this is done. I have had a look at the demo but can't work out how this would work?
3) With the search results, is it possible to configure the fields that display for the search results.
4) Is it possible to configure email notifications? Do you have any information how this is done?
5) Is it possible to upgrade from one JomSocial package to another? For example, can we start on Professional then decide later to upgrade to Supercharged?
6) Do the developers of JomSocial provide custom paid enhancements or can you put in feature enhancement requests?

1. We only provide 1 group for 1 category
2. we dont have this example, on our demo we limit some features due security issue, for this you need setup some admin account
3. yes this is possible, you can set which fields can be searchable
4. yes, you can disable and enable some email notifs
5. Yes this is possible :)
6. no we dont provide the custom code, for it you need hire 3rd party developer
