I have JoomSocial STANDARD since yesterday, am in the discovery phase of things and need some sales support for the following questions:
1) I would create a mess if I used the module positions of my exisiting template for the JS modules. I would prefer to start with standard JS module positions with all modules published and skim it down to the slick and easy to use site that I am looking for. What is the least expensive way for me to get the JS module positions into my web site? Is it part of PROFESSIONAL or do I need the SOCIALIZE? How do other people do this? Or is this something I did not understand correctly?
2) In your demo you have the JoomSocial logo at the top left (I assume this is not the back-link you are talking about). I cannot find this among the JS modules in STANDARD. Can I set my own graphics there using STANDARD or do I need something else to do this?
3) Does jBolo integrate directly into JS in such a manner that a user sees it as an integral part of JS? I do not want to have a separate link from my HOME page for this.
4) I have some push buttons on the HOME page of my existing template. Can I link to JS from these buttons with individual settings for JS? For instance one button starts JS showing a group and another button start JS with user profile editing. I am not aksing you to describe how to do it, just to let me know if it can easily be done.
This idea of mine with a social website with my own touch to it is a lot more complex and expensive than I thought, but with your kind support I will be getting there.
1. Actually there are no such a thing as "JS module position" as all module positions are in Joomla! template. So many depends from your template what module position it offers. You may have custom made template and create module position in places you want them. or you may use ready to use template with positions that fit your needs.
In other hand there are built in JomSocial positions:
documentation.jomsocial.com/wiki/Built-in_Module_Positions
But they are used as addition to regular template positions (as JomSocial share menu item ID for all it pages and in a fact you assign modules to menu item IDs. So to make possible to display modules on certain JS pages - built in positions could be used).
You don't need Socialzie - you may use any template that offers module positions in places you want them.
2. Backlink is located at page bottom - close to the footer. In our demo we use Socialize template. Logo is part of Joomla! template (Socialize) - not JomSocial. All elements like modules, logos, menu are part (are nested as they are modules) of template.
3. Please, contact jBolo developers regarding this. As far I know chat is displayed as a panel on each page.
4. By "push buttons" I understand a menu - if this is a menu then yes, you may link menu elements to JomSocial pages, simply by editing menu items in Backend -> Menu -> certain menu, and choosing "Community" and finally page in JS you want to link to.
- Instead of saying: 'it's not working', explain the problem in detail.
- Screenshots with the URL visible in them and the problem marked are more than welcome.
- Tell us how to replicate the problem, we can't fix it if we can't find it.
- Make sure that your site/server meets JomSocial System Requirements
- Make sure to setup JomSocial Cron Job
- Always provide us with access details to the backend and ftp. We need it to debug problems.
- If you have a similar problem, but a solution you found isn't working, open a new thread instead of 'merging' with an existing one.
- Use the "Thank You" feature on any post that helped you
