Hi,
While calculating bandwith usage I got two questions.
1. Suppose I am using amazon s3 to store images. If a user is uploading image of 2mb size and 10 users
are seeing it. What will be bandwith used by local server and amazon s3 server. Is it true that local server
will call it 10 times from amazon s3 so that image will use 20mb (2mb image*10 users) bandwith on amazon
s3 server and also 20mb on local server.
2. What are pros and cons of storing content on amzon s3 in terms of speed and cost.
1. If those users will see it for the first time then yes, file needs to be downloaded thus bandwith is used.
2. External storage is usually used when you have little disk space so you can't store many files. Also if your server doesn't offer FFMPEG library then combined with encoding service could save your day. It does have impact ond load speed but only if your server is really slow.
- Instead of saying: 'it's not working', explain the problem in detail.
- Screenshots with the URL visible in them and the problem marked are more than welcome.
- Tell us how to replicate the problem, we can't fix it if we can't find it.
- Make sure that your site/server meets JomSocial System Requirements
- Make sure to setup JomSocial Cron Job
- Always provide us with access details to the backend and ftp. We need it to debug problems.
- If you have a similar problem, but a solution you found isn't working, open a new thread instead of 'merging' with an existing one.
