I recently received an email about a critical security patch for JomSocial 4.1 and 4.2. We are still using version 3.2.1.3, is there a critical security issue with this version, or was the security issue introduced in version 4?

That is very old version, this issue only can be fixed in latest Jomsocial version or version 4.x.x
