We have received the special November Deal for renewals. You may ask why we hadn't renewed before so I'll explain a few things.
I a took over looking after the club's website and forum getting on for three years ago. The site had been supplied by a developer that included Kunena and Jomsocial. I say supplied as he took an existing site that included many things not required and just renamed the site, etc.
Earlier this year we migrated the site to another host and we were quarantined during a day so I had the job of sorting out all of the security issues, some of which at the time look like they may have involved jomsocial. (This was a J2.5.X site.) The club's national Secretary Jumped the gun and signed up for Jomsocial thinking we needed it whereas I wanted to wait and use the subscription for when we went to J3. I shortly started to develop the J3 site, which is still behind, and asked questions as I was updating from a J2.5.28 installation, and needed to migrate users to the latest version of Jomsocial at that time. However I was very disappointed with the responses that I got from yourselves and basically was told to ask the question of Joomla and not yourselves. The only good response I got was that the original Jomsocial had to be removed before the latest was installed.
Now do you think that would create a situation where we would want to renew automatically? We are a small, not for profit, voluntary run club, so $79 is quite a chunk of money to us so when we find this sort of thing happening it does not make us want to part with our money. Now you may think that being a small voluntary club you can ignore this. However think that if this has happened to us then the same may have happened to others more able to part with money, and as I am on various forums, social sites, training sites, etc when asked about thing like social extensions, what do think my comments will be?
So yes, I see your point, why are you not eager to upgrade as our Support failed at this moment :( I'm really sorry and I, as a Support Manger will put much more effort and attention to improve our Support.
- Instead of saying: 'it's not working', explain the problem in detail.
- Screenshots with the URL visible in them and the problem marked are more than welcome.
- Tell us how to replicate the problem, we can't fix it if we can't find it.
- Make sure that your site/server meets JomSocial System Requirements
- Make sure to setup JomSocial Cron Job
- Always provide us with access details to the backend and ftp. We need it to debug problems.
- If you have a similar problem, but a solution you found isn't working, open a new thread instead of 'merging' with an existing one.
- Use the "Thank You" feature on any post that helped you
