Can I intervene to modify the parameters required by the registration form: Specifically I need to add more fields than those required and 2 email addresses... Can I customize the template (small type changes, backgrounds , img ... through CSS)?

Yes, you may customize registration flow. The first page of registration contains Joomla! obligatory fields so fiddling with them is rather not recommended. Also if you add some fields - you'll need to have additional database tables to store additional data.
But you may add as many fields you want in second step of registration ;)
JomSocial allows you to add as many profile fields you need.
- Instead of saying: 'it's not working', explain the problem in detail.
- Screenshots with the URL visible in them and the problem marked are more than welcome.
- Tell us how to replicate the problem, we can't fix it if we can't find it.
- Make sure that your site/server meets JomSocial System Requirements
- Make sure to setup JomSocial Cron Job
- Always provide us with access details to the backend and ftp. We need it to debug problems.
