I want to host a series of competitions in JomSocial. Text, photo, video, audio.
Please suggest the best set up to make use of your social addon to make this happen. I was thinking to use events as competitions because they have date and time set, then have members upload all files into the event.
Please advise what do you think is the best option for me here? I am open to combining extensions with JomSocial.

Could you elaborate what those "competitions" should have as features?
- you'll be able to upload photos and videos in events
- event (competition) will have start and end date + location
- competition members will be able to post on stream
- they will be able to create discussions and post files there
- you'll be able to create announcements
What more do you need?
- Instead of saying: 'it's not working', explain the problem in detail.
- Screenshots with the URL visible in them and the problem marked are more than welcome.
- Tell us how to replicate the problem, we can't fix it if we can't find it.
- Make sure that your site/server meets JomSocial System Requirements
- Make sure to setup JomSocial Cron Job
- Always provide us with access details to the backend and ftp. We need it to debug problems.
- If you have a similar problem, but a solution you found isn't working, open a new thread instead of 'merging' with an existing one.
- Use the "Thank You" feature on any post that helped you
I'm sorry but files could be uploaded ONLY in Groups - not in events directly.
No, you can't set privacy for uploaded files. They will be available for all group members (if group will be private) or all community members if group is open.
Also it's other way round: Event's are part of groups - not groups are part of events :)
So I guess that rather groups will meet your requirements for competitions (except privacy settings for files).
