JomSocial Active Publisher Expired Socialize Expired

I have Publisher Pro 3.0.11. If you look at the oldest post in the Publisher Pro forum (2 years ago), I had a problem due to having over 600,000 articles which drastically slowed the load time of the extension.

I basically do not need to display anything from 95% of our categories. Mostly, I need to be able to display RSS feeds from external sites plus a few amount of categories we might designate.

We never put this extension online due to this issue but I'd like to give the extension a try again if this problem can now be bypassed (perhaps by limiting which categories get scanned).

Does the current version allow me to choose which categories be scanned or not when the extension loads?

Thank you. -- Rik

Hi, Rik.

Thank you for contacting us and give second chance to Publisher.
AFIK there is no option to limit articles to certain category.
Publisher by default process/gain access to all Joomla! articles.
If you have over 600.000 then it will process all of them and list in component dashboard.
But even then articles will be loaded in chunks (depends what pagination settings are applied in Joomla!).

Of course you may decide what category to assign to zone and display that zone at frontend so not all articles will be displayed at that place.

If you have so many articles then your database table had hundreds of thousands of records. All table content need to be scanned in order to load only tables that meet certain condition (e.g category ID). This can't be avoided as articles are all in one table... also there are articles related tables (that contain articles access rights) that need to be scanned too. That's why you may experience slow loading time. But this depends how your database is big and how fast your server is...

- Instead of saying: 'it's not working', explain the problem in detail.
- Screenshots with the URL visible in them and the problem marked are more than welcome.
- Tell us how to replicate the problem, we can't fix it if we can't find it.
- Make sure that your site/server meets JomSocial System Requirements
- Make sure to setup JomSocial Cron Job
- Always provide us with access details to the backend and ftp. We need it to debug problems.
- If you have a similar problem, but a solution you found isn't working, open a new thread instead of 'merging' with an existing one.
