I would like to start using JOMSOCIAL on my site, as I am not that much of an IT/computer person can you help me how to migrate from the current community builder extension to Jomsocial and I do not want many changes in the appearance of my website?

Unfortunately there is no modern migration tool to do it smooth.
You can install JomSocial along with Community Builder and they will share users imminently but not user activities or resources.
So your community will have to grow content all over again.
Yes, there is an option to migrate all user data - custom migration script but we can't help you with that. You'll need to hire professional developer to do it for you: www.upwork.com/groups/jomsocial

Installing JomSocial you'll have no visuall change in your current site template - but community part will change to JomSocial layout. You can't avoid that as you'll start to use new extension, with new features. this require new layout. But still you may customize layout to make it as close as possible to your previous community... with help of 3rd party developer.

In this case is there any chance to try the JOMSOCIAL before purchasing the item as a trail. Now I am in uncertain position and don't know if I would like it after using it on my website.

If I use JOMSOCIAL along with Community Builder , which of these extensions will control the activities of members and what are the advantages and disadvantages of using two similar extensions at the same time.
