Shared Profiles

Is it possible to create or customize Jomsocial to be able to create shared profiles?

I want to build a roommate finder site and I'd like users to be able to have more than 1 person with their information in a profile.

For instance if I login to the site and I'm looking for a housemate...I can see that a particular profile has 3 people living there already....their individual names, hobbies, interests, etc...

Hi, Christopher.

Thank you for contacting us and interesting in JomSocial.
Hmmm, profile is based on profile fields so you may add a set of similar fields. But there is no way to add set of fields just by clicking "add more". Number of field set will be fixed. I'm afraid it's the only way to add few person data to one profile. Usually one profile = one person. So adding few field sets seems to be reasonable here ;)

- Instead of saying: 'it's not working', explain the problem in detail.
- Screenshots with the URL visible in them and the problem marked are more than welcome.
- Tell us how to replicate the problem, we can't fix it if we can't find it.
- Make sure that your site/server meets JomSocial System Requirements
- Make sure to setup JomSocial Cron Job
- Always provide us with access details to the backend and ftp. We need it to debug problems.
- If you have a similar problem, but a solution you found isn't working, open a new thread instead of 'merging' with an existing one.

Is there any possibility of "tying" two profiles together in some meaningful way?

LIke if you click on one profile you automatically see the others that are tied to it...via some kind of bridge or connection that can be set in a profile?

HI, Christopher.

JomSocial was designed to provide members their own profiles. So one Joomla! account = one profile. Sharing profile between account is something out of initial design. Answer will be yes - you could create some kind of "bridge" a connection between profiles but only because JomSocial is a Open Source and nearly any customization could be done. So only your imagination and budget limits you :) However we could not participate in such a make over. JomSocial is shipped as it is and if you want to change or add any features - you're free to do that, but consider that you'll need a professional developer to implement them.

Also you should note that implementing new features could require a core hacking... what is rather a bad idea as hacks may not work in future versions of JS and you will be stuck with old version. So any customizations should be applied smart using overrides.
